Reader Kate wrote to me recently regarding BOP-free toothpaste. She, herself is allergic to Balsam of Peru and she pointed me in the direction of VMV Hypoallergenics ESSENCE SKIN-SAVING TOOTHPASTE. While I haven't personally tested it out, the list of ingredients do seem to be BOP-free. YAY! The same company also seems to have lots of other BOP-free friendly toiletries and make-up.
Have you tried the VMV Hypoallergenics? If so, what do you think? I'd love to know!
Hi Heather! A month ago I was diagnosed with a Balsam of Peru allergy. I have tried VMV Hypoallergnics toothpaste, and besides its not so great taste, it seemed to work well. However, like most toothpastes, it does contain sodium lauryl sulfate (apparently what causes the foaming), which can be a skin irritant for some. I recently started using Cleure's original toothpaste. My dermatologist recommended it, and it can be purchased on Amazon and Cleure's website. It is also BoP free but does not contain sodium lauryl sulfate. Plus, I find its taste more tolerable.
